Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. has hired industry veteran and brownfield development expert Michael Sylvester as its vice president of New Jersey operations.
The engineering services firm, which is based in Reston, Virginia, said Sylvester will lead a statewide expansion as part of the newly crated leadership role. He joins Bowman with more than 30 years of experience in the environmental and engineering industries across the public and private sectors, with deep experience in brownfield development and a background in operations management and finance.
The firm said Sylvester will look to drive growth, foster innovation and enhance operational efficiencies in its New Jersey offices and explore growth opportunities in the Northeast region.
“Michael’s exceptional leadership skills and deep understanding of operations make him the ideal fit to guide our New Jersey team,” said Michael Bruen, chief operating officer at Bowman. “We are poised for growth in the region, and we are confident that Michael’s contributions will have a profound impact on area businesses, development, employee advancement and project delivery.”
Sylvester, a former executive with EWMA, assumes the role amid Bowman’s recent expansion into new, larger office space in Parsippany, as the company pushes to establish a stronger presence in the region, according to a news release. With more than 1,900 employees and more than 75 offices throughout the U.S., the publicly traded firm provides planning, engineering, geospatial, construction management, commissioning, environmental consulting, land procurement and other technical services to customers operating in a diverse set of regulated end markets.
