The NRP Group has bolstered its team in the Northeast apartment sector with the addition of Patrick Carino as vice president of development.
The firm, which is based in Cleveland, said Carino will originate and manage all aspects of market-rate development in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. He’ll do so by leveraging more than a decade of experience in the Northeast, reporting to Jonathan Gertman of NRP’s New York City office.
“Patrick’s arrival reaffirms NRP’s commitment to excellence in the dynamic real estate landscape of the Northeast,” said Gertman, a senior vice president of development. “His talent will amplify our impact, expanding NRP’s capacity to grow in the region while upholding our mission to create exceptional rental housing communities for individuals and families, regardless of income.”
Carino most recently oversaw acquisitions and development for RMS Cos., a Stamford, Connecticut-based firm, spearheading its expansion into the Westchester, northern New Jersey, and suburban Boston markets, according to a news release. NRP cited his understanding of the contemporary renter’s requirements through site selection and decisions on amenities such as private offices, coworking spaces and enriched outdoor spaces like courtyards and walking paths.
With his new firm, which develops, builds and manages multifamily housing, Carino joins a team that has expanded its own market-rate and affordable housing portfolio in the region in recent years, delivering properties such as 722 Chancellor in Irvington as well as The Halden in White Plains, New York, and Grayson Lofts in Wakefield, Massachusetts. It also has projects under construction in the Port Liberte section of Jersey City and in Saratoga Springs and New Rochelle in New York.
“I am excited to join the NRP team and bring my passion for creating multifamily housing to a company celebrated for its expansive, high-caliber portfolio,” Carino said. “I’m confident that we can continue building upon the impressive pipeline NRP has created in the region.”
Carino received a finance degree with a concentration in real estate and urban economics from the University of Connecticut, where he also minored in environmental economics and policy. He is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Connecticut and, next month, will earn the Rising Star distinction at the Urban Land Institute of Northern New Jersey’s 2024 Excellence Awards.
