Kokes Properties is expanding its presence in affordable housing with a new property management role at a 61-unit, income-restricted multifamily complex in West Windsor.
The Brielle-based firm said it recently took on the management of The Hamlet at Bear Creek, a 55-plus community near the intersection of Village and Old Trenton roads. It’s now working to foster constructive working relationships with township officials and the New Jersey Housing & Mortgage Financing Agency, according to a news release, seeking to facilitate an orderly transition of the property’s operation as well as enhance the overall living experience for residents.
The assignment comes as Kokes Property Management, which previously served only market-rate communities, looks to establish a foothold within New Jersey’s affordable housing space.
“The nationwide housing affordability crisis has been a well-documented problem plaguing our country in recent years,” said Michael J. Kokes, president of Kokes Properties Management. “In our view, the calls for more affordable housing here in New Jersey are only going to get louder in the coming years, and we believe that positioning ourselves at the forefront of an industry with historically high barriers to entry will only serve our interests in the long run.
“We would like to express our gratitude to the Hamlet’s ownership group for placing their trust and confidence in us as managers, and we are hopeful that this experience will springboard more growth opportunities for us in the future as the affordable housing landscape continues to evolve.”
