The vacancy rate for retail properties along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile was 14.1 percent in the second quarter, according to Cushman & Wakefield. That’s down from 16.3 percent in the second quarter of last year, but well more than the 3.3 percent rate posted in the fourth quarter of 2019, before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
